Inn From the Cold
“Inn From The Cold” (the Inn) provides dinner, a bed for the night, breakfast and a bagged lunch to homeless individuals.
Originally, this service was aimed at helping families with children stay in a home-like atmosphere away from the shelters.
The Inn now has a building in which they can house most families giving the children a stable home which is much better for them. The churches and other organizations still provide shelter for the overflow families, homeless teenagers, the working poor and home-less unemployed who are neither drug addicts nor alcoholics.
St. Peter’s together with St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church host an Inn at St. Anthony’s on the first Friday of every month. We alternate cooking duties and share in set-up, hosting and cleaning. Each month we host around 15 people – it is a very rewarding outreach project.
Volunteers are required to be police checked before participating in an Inn. This check is provided free by the Inn.
